Health and Wellness Tips for Busy Business Owners

August is here, and it's the perfect time to refocus on your health and wellness. For busy professionals, juggling work and personal life can be challenging, but prioritising your well-being is crucial for staying productive and happy.

Here are some health and wellness tips to help you stay balanced this month:

1. Get Outside

In August the weather is great, so take advantage of it by getting outside.

Morning Walks: Start your day with a short walk. It boosts your mood and helps you get ready for the day. I usually put some headphones on and listen to music or a podcast.

Lunch Breaks: Take your lunch outside. Fresh air and a change of scenery can recharge your mind. A study found that spending just 20 minutes outside and away from your desk can significantly lower cortisol levels, a marker of stress

2. Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is essential, especially in the summer heat.

Drink Water: Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day. Keep a water bottle with you to remind yourself to drink.

Flavour It Up: Add lemon, cucumber, or berries to your water to make it more enjoyable.

3. Prioritise Sleep

Good sleep is vital for productivity and health.

Create a Sleep-Friendly Environment: Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet. A comfy mattress, blackout curtains and a fan should have you set for a wonderful sleep every night!

Limit Screen Time: Avoid screens an hour before bed to allow your body to wind down.

4. Manage Stress

August can be busy, so managing stress is crucial.

Time Management: Use calendars, to-do lists, and project management tools to stay organised. My favourite calendar is Google Calendar. I put everything on there so I know exactly what I’m doing in both my personal and work life.

Take Breaks: Regular breaks help you stay focused. I always try and take small 5 minute breaks every 30 minutes to give my eyes a rest from the screen

Practice Mindfulness: Deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness apps can help you stay calm and focused.

5. Stay Organised

A tidy workspace and organised tasks can reduce stress and boost efficiency.

Declutter: Keep your workspace clean and organised.

Digital Organisation: Use tools like Evernote or Google Drive to keep your digital files in order.

Prioritise: Make daily or weekly to-do lists and prioritise tasks to focus on what's important.

Use these tips to enjoy a healthier, more balanced life this August!
